Toddler – Science: Minibeasts that can Fly and cannot Fly

By using the minibeast realia, the teacher introduce students to the kind of minibeast such as caterpillar, snail, worm, butterfly, bee, and ladybird. The teacher also encouraged students to have a simple observation using these realia.

Next, the teacher also intoduced students to recognise minibeasts that can fly and cannot fly by showing the characteristic and their habitat. The minibeast that can fly commonly have wings to fly (butterfly, bee, and ladybird). Meanwhile, those that cannot fly can onlystay on the ground (snail, worm, and caterpillar). Then, the teacher showed how to classify the minibeasts pictures by pasting them on their habitat. Children showed their participation through this activity. They also practice to repeat after the name of the minibeasts.

Toddlers will have an enjoyable experience by recognising the minibeasts while imitating the minibeast movement. They will also enrich the vocabularies through this Science lesson. Besides, they also learn different sound produced by the minibeast such as a bee.
