Toddler – Science: Food Tasting
Toddler students joined a food tasting activity to explore and recognise different flavors, especially sweet and salty. The teachers provided sugar, salt, banana, and crackers. Children used their sense of taste while also observing the colours and textures of the foods, engaging with the materials in a hands-on and meaningful way.
During the activity, toddlers were encouraged to express their experiences, describing what they tasted, felt, and saw. They explored different textures and compared flavors, developing early observation and reasoning skills. Sharing their thoughts also promoted communication and confidence in expressing themselves.
This experience has a long-term impact on students’ development. Engaging multiple senses helps strengthen sensory awareness, curiosity, and critical thinking. Early exposure to diverse foods supports healthy eating habits and builds confidence in trying new experiences, while fostering both cognitive and social-emotional growth over time. ***
