Toddler – Maths: Recognising colors
Learning about colors helps students develop skills in sorting, categorizing, and comparing objects, building cognitive connections between visual cues and words. In their math lesson, toddler students practiced recognizing the colors red, blue, and yellow. This lesson was integrated with the story The Selfish Crocodile, which teaches values like togetherness, sharing, courage, and helping others.
In the activity, students pretended to help the crocodile by “pulling out” his aching teeth, and selecting teeth based on the color mentioned by the teacher. This playful exercise not only reinforced color recognition and following instructions but also developed fine motor skills, as students used tweezers to “pinch” and remove the teeth. ***
