Toddler – Maths: Counting the Leaves

The lesson began with students singing “Hungry Caterpillar” to introduce the topic in an engaging way. The teacher also asked students to find the caterpillar pictures around their classroom and highlighted the leaves that the caterpillar munched, focusing on the amount of the leaves.

The teacher asked students to count how many leaves they might find on the pictures. They were encouraged to count objects 1-3 in turn. Next, toddlers were invited to recognise the symbol of numbers 0-8 on the caterpillar’s body.

These activities help students to learn the symbol of numbers in a fun way. They also practice to count the objects while learn to recognise the minibeast. Through these enjoyable activities, students will have different experience in understanding the concept of numbers.
