Toddler – Entry Point: Learning Through Stories

Toddler students welcomed the new theme of “Learning Through Stories” by wearing the pajamas at school. They also brought their favourite story books. Toddlers were able to listen to the story of “The Tortoise and The Hare” introduced by teacher. They also participated to play pretend to sleep on the mat.

After listening to the story using the book and puppets, toddlers were introduced to vocabulary pictures such as tortoise, hare, nap, and race. They also practiced to imitate the animal movement (the tortoise and the hare). Students showed their enthusiasm to colour the picture while mentioning the name of each picture.

Through listening story and play pretend, children were invited to recognise the new vocabularies based on the theme through daily activity (reading a book and take a nap). These activities improve students’ engagement and language retention that making vocabulary learning more enjoyable.
