Toddler – English: The Shell Art

Toddlers were introduced to sea creatures they found on the beach such as fish, crab, turtle, seashell, jellyfish, starfish, and hermit crab. They also learned about sea creatures movement and practiced to imitate how the sea creatures move in turn.

In this opportunity, we gave the deeper knowledge about the shell and how we reused it to make something new. Here, we encouraged students to make the shell art by using the playdough. We demonstrated the process of making playdough in front of students. They showed their enthusiasm to listen and watch this process. Then, toddlers were asked to make their own shell art by kneading and pressing the shell on the dough.

Through this activity, children not only got deeper information about the seashell but also learned how to make something using reuse material. They could enhance their critical-thinking, creativity, and train their fine motor skills through molding and kneading the dough. ***
