Primary Preparation Class: Let’s Explore Our School

The preparation class was held to help new students become familiar with the school environment and daily routines. A school tour was conducted, and the students had a wonderful time exploring the school. They visited the health center, where they learned what it is used for, and stopped by the library to listen to the rules and spend time reading. A special highlight of the tour was meeting the school principal, the S-team, as well as visiting the front office. These activities were designed to help students feel less nervous on their first day by turning an unfamiliar place into a known and friendly space.

After the tour, students were invited to draw freely on the Blackwall as a way to share what they had seen and enjoyed around the school. Basic classroom routines and general rules were also introduced, so students understood how to behave and move around the school. The students clearly enjoyed the tour, and many said how much fun they had exploring their new school.

Beyond the tour itself, the session was designed to prepare students for school life in a deeper way. By visiting different school areas and meeting important staff members like the principal, the S-team, and the front office team, students began to understand where things are and who to ask for help. This will help them move around the school on their own and feel more confident in the future. Learning the routines and rules also gave students a clear idea of what to expect each day. A homelink task was given and explained, so students could continue the learning at home with their families.

The impact of this preparation day will likely be felt long after the first week. Students who became familiar with the school layout, principal, S-team, front office, health center, and library are now better able to follow rules, move between spaces, and feel safe in their new environment. The fun tour and the chance to draw on the Blackwall helped create positive first memories of the school. This sense of comfort and belonging provides a strong foundation for student independence, good relationships with classmates, and a smooth start to primary school life.
