Primary 6 – Science: Wonderful Investigation about Respiratory System
Primary 6 scientists brought the human respiratory system to life through dynamic, hands-on experimentation!
Working in teams, students constructed working lung models using balloons, plastic cups, and straws to visualize how lungs expand and contract. Next, they put their own lung capacities to the test! By inflating balloons during normal and deep breathing trials, measuring balloon circumferences with string and rulers, and calculating average volumes, the young researchers analyzed real scientific data.
Students concluded that deep breathing allows lungs to hold and release significantly more air. By combining model-building with data analysis, Primary 6 sharpened their teamwork, measurement skills, and evidence-based reasoning.
