Primary 6 – Science: Making Respiratory System Model

In Science class, P6 students learned about the “Human Respiratory System”. They received a task to make a respiratory system model to explain how we breathe in and breath out. The model was made of straws acting like our trachea and bronchi, balloons as our lungs and the cardboard stuck to the balloons as our ribs.

When the students blew on the straws, the balloons got bigger and the cardboard moved outwards following the balloons. This process describes how we breathe in. When we inhale the air, our lungs get bigger. As the air fills our lungs, our ribs will move upwards and outwards. ***
