Primary 6 – Orientation: Stepping into New School Year
As the new academic year begins, Primary 6 students were warmly welcomed back to school through a week of meaningful orientation activities. These activities were designed to help students transition smoothly into their new level, introducing them to new routines, expectations, and habits.
The orientation started with a class introduction, where students reflected on themselves—exploring what they like and dislike, what makes them happy or sad, and what values matter most to them. This reflective activity helped students build self-awareness and a stronger connection with their peers and teachers.
Students were then guided through sessions on school rules, discipline, and cleanliness. They discussed the importance of maintaining order and hygiene, both personally and within their learning environment. Together, they created mind maps to visualize and remember key aspects of cleanliness and responsibility in daily routines.
Another key activity was focused on developing positive habits. In a class discussion, students identified behaviors that contribute positively to their surroundings and relationships. They then began tracking these habits daily on a special log sheet, which is reviewed and signed by their teacher to encourage consistency and accountability.
These orientation activities played a vital role in fostering a welcoming and respectful learning environment. Students were encouraged to set personal goals and build positive impressions at the start of their journey in Primary 6. The emphasis on discipline and routines also contributed to creating a safe, supportive, and productive atmosphere—essential for their academic and personal growth.
Through these experiences, students began to understand how positive habits, self-awareness, and responsibility are key to achieving success and facing future challenges with confidence. As the eldest in the primary school, Primary 6 students are also stepping into their role as leaders and role models for younger peers. We look forward to seeing them grow and thrive in this new academic year! ***
