Primary 6 – Orientation: Get to Know the Subjects

During orientation week, P6 students were introduced to subject teachers such as Maths, Social Studies, Bahasa Indonesia, Science, IPC, English, Mandarin, and Visual Arts. In these sessions, the teachers explained the classroom rules, learning objectives, and materials that would be covered for this semester. In addition, students had diagnostic tests in light and interactive activities in the form of hands-on and games. These tests were designed to recall students’ understanding and prior knowledge of the material that had been taught in previous level.

For example, in Bahasa Indonesia, students demonstrated their speaking skills through a pesan berantai game and their writing skills with a capital letter word card activity. In pesan berantai, each student was given a card with a sentence, and they had to correct the sentence’s capitalization. In Science and Mandarin, students reviewed P5 material through guessing games. The teacher gave a question, and students had to compete it.

On the other hand, students recalled material about human brain anatomy by creating a paper brain hat in the introduction of P6 IPC. The hat displayed different parts of the brain. Another fun activity was also covered in Pancasila lesson. Students worked in groups to assemble puzzles about the implementation of Pancasila values and match pictures with the symbols of the Pancasila.

These activities fostered students’ creativity, teamwork, and active participation in a fun yet meaningful way. At the same time, they helped students prepare for the new academic year. ***
