Primary 6 – Maths: Probability Project

In Mathematics class, P6 students have learned a topic of Probability in the last unit of Semester 1. Through that topic, students learned how to describe the possibility of an event to happen. The activity started with a group discussion to answer a driving question: What makes you able to be skillful in the Probability concept?

Students prepared the project by deciding the ideas, setting the properties, and dividing the responsibilities equally. Next, they worked on the project with all the preparation that was designed previously. During the process, students considered some aspects as the concern, including the clarity in presenting ideas and how they coped with the problems that happened throughout the activities.

Most students decided to make spinner creations and the other students were making ring shots, crazy spin, shark-eating fish, dice probability, a ball in cups, and many more ideas. As the last step, students presented the relations of their creations with probability concepts. They also made a statement about what can be learned from the activity as the Mathematics project conclusion.

The project was not just an assessment. Yet, it was a chance for students to explore their understanding and creativity in a fun and meaningful way. By participating in the project, students got a chance to learn how to respect others’ ideas, appreciate their work, contribute more in groups, and evaluate their creations for a better learning process ahead. ***
