Primary 6 – Mathematics: Number Patterns

Today, P6 students started a new topic of discussion about Number Patterns. Number Pattern is a sequence of numbers that follow a certain rule or order. Students were challenged to make a tower of cards with a specific number of stacks.

This activity helped students get the basic ideas of Number Patterns meaningfully. It also encouraged them to solve the problem by communicating the best strategy so that they would be able to arrange the tower in the correct pattern. By having this activity, students learned that number patterns also used the basic concept of addition or subtraction. They enjoyed the activity since they were very excited to make the precise form of the tower in groups. ***
