Primary 6 – IPC Entry Point: What Price Progress?

In the beginning of IPC topic ‘What Price Progress?’, students have been exploring how technology has changed the world and the development of inventions. Students started the topic with discussion about what do they know about invention and mention some examples. To enhance the learning, students created a model as their own invention.

Students were challenged to create equipment that unique and creative such as a machine to organise their day, a gadget that cheer them up and so on. To make the model product, students needed to consider the target user, the features of the product, the benefit of the product and the potential impact on the environment. Students also collaborated with their friends in group to bring the tools such as card box, glue gun, straw, etc.

The model making provides a hands-on, interactive learning experience. Through this activity, students can build their collaboration, communication. They also stimulated to show creativity and their knowledge about how technology meets our needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. This way of thinking set a foundation for them to grow awareness and empathy towards the surrounding and take action while consider the impact.
