Primary 5 – Visual Arts: Street View

Primary 5 students embarked on an exciting journey into imaginative drawing with the theme Street View. They were tasked with creating a scene from one of several environments—such as a city, village, forest, cliff, or beach. To begin, the teacher and students engaged in a lively discussion about the various objects and features typically found in each of these areas, sparking the students’ creativity and helping them visualize their chosen scenes.

Once the ideas were flowing, the students sketched their street views on paper, adding thoughtful details and decorations to bring their imaginations to life. After refining their initial sketches, they moved on to a more advanced medium—resketching their designs onto canvases and painting them using acrylic paints. The students were especially enthusiastic about this part of the process, as it was their first time working with canvas and acrylics, giving them a new and exciting way to express their artistic visions.

The energy and excitement in the classroom were palpable as the students explored this new medium, carefully applying layers of color and texture to their work. This hands-on experience not only allowed them to develop their artistic skills but also gave them a sense of accomplishment and pride in using professional-grade materials for the first time. The combination of creativity, technique, and the thrill of trying something new made this drawing and painting activity a truly memorable and enriching experience for the students. ***
