Primary 5 : Skill Performance
This semester P5 students learn “Brainwave” in IPC. Through this theme, students were asked to know deeper about what learning is and how to do it properly to maximize the brain’s capability in learning. As the entry point, the teacher gave students a chance to experience what learning is by challenging them to learn a skill in a group. They were divided into two groups (dancing and singing group). Each group had a leader that led other group friends to learn the skill. During the preparation, P5 students were so happy and excited. They all tried to practice and help other friends learn the skill.
After some preparations, P5 students were given a chance to perform in front of the class. Most of them can perform very well due to their excellent preparation. After their performances, each student got their evaluation from other friends to improve their future performance.
As the exit slip, the teacher asked them about their experience learning new skills. Most of them explained it was hard the first time, and it became easier as they tried to learn and practice continuously. From the activity, students learned that they need to have some practice and repetition to learn something. They also learned that making mistakes or experiencing failure while learning something was a learning phase. So, they should not give up easily when they try to understand or learn something new. ***
