Primary 5 – Orientation Week: Chain Drawing Game

Primary 5 – Orientation Week: Chain Drawing Game

On the fourth day of school orientation, Primary 5 students began the day with fun and engaging activity called Menggambar Berantai This group-based game encouraged creativity, teamwork, and communication skills.

The activity began with the teacher drawing a single line or simple shape on the whiteboard as a starting point. Each group then took turns adding to the drawing, with one student contributing at a time. While students drawing, they could not discuss their ideas with teammates. After a short time, the teacher would say “pass,” signaling the student to stop and hand the drawing paper to the next group member. The next student continued the drawing based only on what they saw, without knowing the full plan. This process repeated until every group member had contributed.

Once the first round was completed without discussion, students were given time to plan their next drawing as a team. In this second round, they could communicate and agree on a concept before taking turns drawing again. After both rounds, the groups compared their two drawings; one made without discussion and the other with discussion. They reflected on how communication affected the results. Finally, each group presented their drawings to the class and explained what they had created.

This activity was designed to teach students the importance of discussion, clear communication, teamwork, and thoughtful decision-making. It emphasized that rushing through tasks can lead to unexpected results, while careful planning and collaboration lead to more meaningful and successful outcomes. Furthermore, collaboration help strengthen communication and teamwork skills, making it easier for students to learn and grow together.

This activity not only made learning fun but also reinforced essential skills such as working together, being patient, and solving problems with friends that will benefit for students in facing the daily life in P5. These skills will help them collaborate effectively in group work, participate in class discussions, and build positive relationships with others every day. ***
