Primary 5 – Maths: Proportion and Ratio
P5 students learned about Proportion and Ratio. To build students’ understanding of the concept, they did a simple experiment by making a cereal bowl.
By experimenting, students learned that Proportion is used to compare a part to its whole while Ratio is used to compare parts to some other parts. The experiment gave the students a deeper understanding since it relates to real-life experience and developed an interest in the subject.
They felt very enthusiastic when they had to decide who would bring the milk and cereals for the experiment. It was like they were playing while learning about math concepts. ***
