Primary 5 : IPC Students Had an Experiment about Memorizing Skill

26 October 2022,

P5 students experimented with learning about memorizing skills with the teacher and S-team. Before the experiment, they knew how information could be remembered easily and kept in long-term memory. They also have the concept that they need to relate the new knowledge with some knowledge they have known before to understand the information quickly. To prove it, the students prepared some Japanese numbers to be memorized by some teachers or S team in 2 different methods.

In the first method, the students asked the participants to remember those Japanese words without help. All the participants seemed to struggle with it. Then, the students gave some hints with English words that had similar sounds to the new Japanese vocabulary. To make it more challenging, the students also prepared a mini quiz and played it with the participants through some guessing games. The experiments were so interesting. All participants were excited to memorize the words with help from the students. At the end of the meeting, the students interviewed the participants to gain data about the easiest method to remember Japanese words. All participants agreed that the second method helped the participants to remember new Japanese vocabulary easily. In the reflection phase, P5 students revealed that the experiment gave them a deeper understanding of the importance of their existing knowledge to learn something. They also realized that the method could be used to know some subjects in the classroom. ***
