Primary 5 – IPC: Sharing Holiday Experience through Interview
Entering the new Unit of Learning The Holiday Show, P5 students had a chance to have interview with P3 students as a tool of finding more data about other’s holiday experience in this Knowledge Harvest phase. This material is very beneficial and fun for the students because they will be given a chance to train their communication skill through this interview and learn about the importance of stating purpose before arranging holiday.
Previously, P5 students shared their own holiday experience to their friends and teachers in the class. They shared the informations about the places they visited, the purpose of visiting the places as well as the activities they did on their holiday. Before having the interview, they were asked to have some consideration in arranging the questions, simplify the language used as well as the steps of the interview that they are going to have so that P3 students can get clear understanding about the interview and give suitable information for them. Then, they made a comic strips as the result of the interview.
These continous activities will be powerful for the students to have more data about favorite places, activities and other aspects in having holiday. They will not only train their communication skill, but also train them on how to be more considerated in finding the proper way to communicate with various people they will meet in the future.
Through this activity, P5 students learned on how to bring themselves into P3 students’ shoes to get the information. Thus, it is expected that students can build their own awareness in empathyzing other people’s needs so that they can see from the wider perspective with a positive affection. ***
