Primary 4 – Science: Can you feel the energy?

Primary 4 students recently took part in an engaging learning experience on energy and energy sources by observing their surroundings. Moving around the school building, students identified different forms of energy in everyday life, such as light from the sun, electrical energy used in classrooms, and vehicles which passing through in front of the school. Students analyzed their observations to explain how different energy sources are used for specific purposes. Working in groups, they discussed the findings and shared with the class.

P4 students also had a tea time together. They drank a glass of warm tea to feel how the heat from it was transferred to their bodies. The observation helped them understand the concept that energy cannot be made, lost, used up or destroyed. However, it can be transferred from object to another.

This hands-on approach encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful connections between classroom concepts and the real world. Besides, the activities helped students understand that energy is all around them and plays an important role in supporting life and daily tasks, making learning both fun and relevant.
