Primary 4 – Reading Program: BRT Preparation

Reading Program Phase 1 is nearly coming to the end. P4 students have finished reading their books, which they chose by themselves. The students were given freedom to decide the books which they planned to read for Phase 1. So, it was time for them to practice presenting the story based on the books that they enjoyed reading.

In Reading Program time, the students were free to choose the cozy spot in the classrooms. They worked in pairs and took turn to tell the stories. Partners could ask questions to the story teller. It was one of the ways to check the story teller’s reading comprehension as well.

By practicing with friends, P4 students not only prepared themselves for BRT presentation but also knew their friends’ stories. Reading for pleasure could benefit the students’ social and cognitive development as well as their wellbeing because they would experience a range of emotions through the lives of fictional characters. ***
