Primary 4 – Maths: Square Number Key Chain

Primary 4 students have studied the topic about Square Numbers. They learnt that Square Number is a result of multiplying number by itself. For example: 32 is equal to 3 × 3 = 9. The lesson began with a recalling of the meaning of Square Numbers. After that, the students mentioned the Square Numbers’ sequence started from 12 until 102.

As an application, they made Square Number models using square grid paper. They cut and laminated their squares using clear tape to make it firm and not easily to be broken. After that, they made a hole in the corner of the squares and put a keychain’s ring.

This activity helped students to understand more about Square Numbers’ sequence. Additionally, through this project, they developed creative and problem-solving skills to make the Square Number’s key chain.

In the future, students will be able to use square numbers to model real-world situations, such as areas, distance and volumes. Integrating Mathematics with real-world contexts enables students to gain a greater understanding of its significance in daily life.
