Wellnesday: Exploring Veggies with Primary 3 Students
Wellnesday is a school program for all FIS members, including Primary 3 students and teachers. It takes place every two weeks with different healthy food themes. After enjoying a fruity theme last month, this time the students explored the world of vegetables.
On Wellnesday, Primary 3 students and teachers brought their favourite vegetables. For some, vegetables are already a part of their daily meals. However, there were also students and teachers who were not used to eating vegetables and were eager to explore and try new tastes. Some even tried foods they had never eaten before.
This experience of tasting different vegetables left a variety of impressions. Some students shared reactions like, “This is yummy!” or “I like this one now.” These small but sincere responses showed that everyone was enjoying the healthy food. Most importantly, everyone participated actively in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The impact was also seen in the classroom. Students and teachers challenged their usual meal preferences by trying vegetables they didn’t really like before. Some even felt proud after finishing a new type of food. Teachers participated by eating together with the students and sharing their own vegetable choices for the day. Mealtime became an opportunity to talk about how vegetables are good for the body. This interaction and teamwork made the activity fun and meaningful for everyone.
Through Wellnesday, Primary 3 students gained many benefits, such as building courage to try new things, gaining knowledge, and developing healthy habits from an early age. These habits will continue to support them as they grow, helping them choose a healthy lifestyle in the future. ***
