Primary 3: Orientation Day 1
After almost 3 weeks of holiday, P3 students started the first day of school by having orientation days. Strolling around Manahan was the first activity to do. They were divided into a group of three. The students were not only strolling around but they had to observe their surroundings. The students were not allowed to take a note because this activity needs the students to activate their memory in remembering something. Moreover, they also would have the interview with people in Manahan. They had to introduce themselves before the interview, then asked them several questions.
After strolling around Manahan, the group gathered together to write the information that they got. Then, they would report that to the audience. The audience were the P3 teachers and their other friends from P3. They acted like little reporters trying to share findings of the observation with the group. This activity was chosen to prepare the students with the upcoming topic in Semester 2 about giving information.
The students were encouraged to develop their communication skill. Besides, they also strive their cooperation with their group. This activity helped the students to be more confident in delivering information in front of other people.
In Semester 2, there will be more presentation and practical test for the students. By having these two activities, hopefully the students being more ready in facing learning in this semester. Having this experience can stimulate students’ observation skill and communication skill. Mastering those skills will allow students to learn better and put the skills into everyday life practices.
