Primary 3 – Maths: Recognising 3D Shapes
This week, P3 students explored 3D shapes in their math lesson. They began by observing real-life 3D objects around the classroom and identifying examples of shapes like cubes, spheres, and cylinders. This hands-on approach helped them connect geometry to their everyday environment.
After observing, they learned about the features of 3D shapes, such as vertices, edges, and faces. To deepen their understanding, students worked in groups to find more examples of 3D shapes around them. They then sketched these shapes, paying close attention to the specific features of each.
This collaborative activity allowed students to practice identifying and visualizing the characteristics of different 3D shapes while reinforcing teamwork and discussion skills. The students were highly engaged, excited to share their discoveries, and eager to learn more about the world of 3D shapes. ***
