Primary 2 – Reading Stimulation: Story Telling and Character Masks
Primary 2 students watched a storytelling session presented by their Primary 2 teachers. The story, entitled “Roci,” is about a robot kid who dreams of becoming the fastest robot in the world. The students attentively listened to and watched the story. They displayed great interest and were able to answer some questions related to the story.
After the question and answer session, they started completing their Story Journal. They identified the basic elements of the story, such as the title, characters, and settings. Some students could find moral value in the story. Teachers monitored students’ reading progress as they completed reading the book and checked their understanding of it.
To stimulate students’ literacy, the students created a mask representing the characters from the story they had just heard. They drew and colored the masks by themselves. The students were enthusiastic about this activity and excited for the next BRT session. ***
