Primary 2 – Orientation Day Resilience: Growing Stronger Together
On Thursday, July 24th, 2025, our Primary 2 students celebrated Resilience Day — a special day dedicated to helping children explore bravery, perseverance, and the power of “trying again.” The day began with the touching story, The Empty Pot, where students learned about a boy who stayed honest and courageous even when things didn’t go as planned. After a class discussion, students created beautiful paper flowers reflecting times they had shown bravery or kept going through challenges. These were added to our very own “Wall of Blossom,” celebrating every child’s unique journey and strength.
The energy shifted into laughter and teamwork as students rotated through physical challenge stations. Whether they were tossing ping-pong balls into cups or building paper towers, the focus wasn’t on winning. It was on resilience. With encouragement from teachers and friends, students tried again (and again!), learning to stay positive, flexible, and focused. It was heartwarming to hear them say things like, “Let’s keep trying!” and “We can do this together!”
In the afternoon, students crafted their own “Superpower Crowns”, each one decorated with a personal resilience power such as “Brave,” “Patient,” or “Calm.” During the closing sharing session, students were invited to talk about the superpowers they chose and why those qualities were important to them. Their thoughtful reflections showed a strong sense of self-awareness and growth. Some children who are usually shy surprised us with their confidence and insight.
Resilience Day reminded us that our students are not only learning academic skills. They are also building emotional strength. From storytelling to creative expression, from physical challenges to public speaking, the day nurtured meaningful thinking at every level. Most importantly, our students left feeling proud of who they are and what they can overcome. ***
