Primary 2 – Maths: Flipping Coin Experiment

On October 16th, 2025, students carried out an exciting hands-on activity to explore the concept of chance through a coin-flipping experiment. Before doing the activity, they had learnt that chance is how likely something will happen. This activity was conducted as the assessment to check students’ understanding related to pattern and chance materials they have learnt before. Each student flipped a coin 10 times and carefully recorded the result of each flip—whether it landed on heads or tails.

After completing the flips, students organized their data in a table to clearly show how many times each outcome appeared. They then wrote a short description based on their results, explaining which outcome occurred more often.

This activity helped students understand that even though each coin flip is random, patterns can sometimes appear when the experiment is repeated. It also encouraged them to observe, record, and interpret data like real scientists started from a simple things.. The students enjoyed the activity while learning that Maths both fun and practical! ***
