Primary 2 – Maths: Exploring Chance as Weather Wonders

Primary 2 students had an exciting and interactive week learning about chance by observing and recording the weather over five days. The activity began with students filling in a Weather Observation Chart, where they recorded whether it was sunny, cloudy, or rainy each morning at school. They continued their observations at home before returning to school to complete their findings.

After collecting data, students collaborated with their partners to analyze the results of their observations. Through discussions, they identified weather patterns and used their findings to predict the weather for the following day. This step challenged them to think critically about probability and how weather patterns might indicate what is likely to happen next.

The activity combined data collection, analysis, and prediction, providing a hands-on way for students to explore the concept of chance. By connecting real-life observations to mathematical thinking, students gained a deeper understanding of probability while developing communication and teamwork skills. This meaningful experience made learning about chance engaging and practical! ***
