Primary 2 – IPC: Timeline of Cars
As part of the IPC theme “From A to B”, P2 students explored the evolution of cars by creating a timeline. The activity began with students searching for and analyzing the information provided about the history of cars. They were guided to identify and focus on key events, sharpening their ability to recognize and prioritize important historical details.
During the lesson, students were tasked with identifying which car was the least modern, modern, and most modern. This activity required them to compare and contrast details, encouraging critical thinking as they examined the characteristics of each car to determine its place in history.
Building on this understanding, students were reminded about the steps for making a timeline, emphasizing the importance of arranging events in chronological order. They then worked on their own timelines by putting pictures of cars in sequence from the least modern to the most modern.
This hands-on activity helped students develop the skill of organizing events in chronological order, which not only supports historical understanding but also enhances reading comprehension and information processing. By engaging with the timeline of cars, students gained a clearer understanding of how transportation has evolved over time, while also building foundational skills in analysis, organization, and sequencing. ***
