Primary 2 – English: Tongue Twister
On Friday, October 3rd, 2025, P2 students took part in an exciting challenge exploring tongue twisters as part of their English learning activities. This activity was designed to help students recognise similar sounds and improve their pronunciation skills.
The session began with a “tongue twister lottery,” where each student randomly selected a tongue twister. They were then asked to identify similar sounds within the tongue twister. After analysing the sounds, the students wrote them on a card and drew pictures to represent the meaning or imagery of the tongue twister.
At the end of the session, the students were challenged to memorise and confidently present their tongue twister in front of the teacher. They showed great excitement throughout the challenge.
In addition to helping students recognise similar sounds in a fun way, this activity also supported the development of their mouth and tongue muscles, which are important for clear pronunciation. The repeated practice of tricky sounds through tongue twisters also contributed to improving their speaking speed and fluency.
Through this engaging activity, P2 students experienced meaningful and enjoyable English learning. By being exposed to an entertaining way of practising speaking, they became more confident and motivated to participate in their learning moving forward. ***
