
Primary 2 – English: Funny Poem Performance
As part of the practical test, P2 students participated in a funny poem performance on Friday, April 24th, 2026. The activity was conducted in groups. This activity gave chance for students to work together while building confidence in speaking and having performance.
Before the performance began, the students were divided into groups and each group was assigned one of the funny poems they had learnt in class. The poems included “Farewell, Pete” by Roger Stevens, “When Daddy Fell in the Pond” by Alfred Noyes, “Last Night I Dreamed of Chickens” by Jack Prelutsky, “Eletelephony” by Laura Elizabeth Richards and “Don’t” by Michael Rosen. In their groups, the students discussed to present the poems in creative way. They planned their voice, facial expressions, body movements and eye contact to make their performances interesting. During the preparation time, every group showed great teamwork by sharing ideas, encouraging each other and practising enthusiastically. The classroom was filled with laughter and excitement as students explored fun ways to bring the poems to the performance.
The funny poem performance gave students a joyful opportunity to improve their speaking skills while having fun. As they performed, they practised pronunciation, producing clear voice and expressive movements to show the meaning of the poems. They also developed concentration when they read each line. Moreover, the activity helped students enjoy the rhythm, rhyme and playful language of poetry in an engaging way. Through this fun experience, students became more confident, expressive and motivated to use English.
Through this series of activities, students strengthened not only their language skills but also their teamwork and creativity. During group discussions, they learnt to share ideas, listened to one another and made decisions together. During the performance, they were encouraged to express themselves in front of audiences. Overall, the funny poem performance helped students boost creativity and self-expression.
