Primary 1 – Science: Discovering Senses

Primary 1 scientists stepped out of their textbooks and into a hands-on exploration of the human senses!

Using familiar everyday items, young investigators tested their sense of touch across diverse textures—from smooth plastic wrap and rough sandpaper to soft sponges and wooden ice cream sticks. They then put their sense of smell to the test with aromatic scents like eucalyptus oil and hand sanitizer, describing each smell as relaxing, strong, or unusual. Working in groups, students classified items by how they looked, felt, and smelled, before confidently presenting their scientific findings to the class!

By observing, categorizing, and reflecting on how our senses keep us safe and connected, P1 proved that science is best learned when experienced firsthand!
