Primary 1 – Orientation: Thank God It’s Friday

On Friday, July 25th, 2025, Primary 1 students experienced a vibrant day filled with fun, learning, and creativity through a series of engaging activities. All activities within orientation week is proposed as important life lesson. From performing dramas about class rules to learning about safety and sharing personal interests, students demonstrated growth in knowledge, skills, and critical thinking.

The day began with P1 students preparing the stage for a puppet drama performance theme about school and classroom rules. They enthusiastically brought out their handmade puppets and helped set up the scene, showcasing their artistic talents and teamwork. In groups, they rehearsed their scripts that reflected everyday school situations — such as lining up, keeping the classroom clean, and respecting one another. Students practiced reading, speaking, and acting out scenes, helping them visualize school values in a meaningful way.

The excitement of orientation day continued with a coaching clinic on playground safety, led by Mr. Wimang. Students learned important safety rules when playing football, basketball, and other ball games. The session involved open discussions, demonstrations, and question time. Thus, it could stimulate their willingness and eagerness in learning, also enhancing their curiosity as Primary 1 students.

To close the day, students were given time to reflect on who they are through a fun biodata activity “All About Me”. Each student filled in details information such as their name, birthday, age, and favorite book, movie, color, food and drink. Then, they decorated their cards and proudly displayed them on the classroom wall. By doing this activity, they successfully expressed preferences and interests.

These activities can strengthen self-awareness, community bonding, and a sense of belonging as students learned more about each other. This can be their chance to let the others know themselves deeply. All activities were not just enjoyable but academically rich. As P1 students moved through crafting, performing, learning, and reflecting, they began to make connections with their learning experiences. They shared ideas from the drama and coaching session to understand how rules guide behavior across school and playing time safely. They also made links between knowing themselves and respecting others, it is a key for creating their long term memory ahead significantly for lifelong learning.

From all of those activities, it shows that P1 students have been ready to follow some routines as primary students. Moreover, it can boost their motivation in learning not only through drama, play, and personal sharing, but also relates to cognitive aspects. Thus, it can be seen that learning can be interactive, reflective and joyful. It can help them not only to memorize the lessons, but also create such good memories in their first week of school. Good job pals! ***
