Primary 1 – Maths: Learning Addition with “Roll the Animals Dice” Game
On Wednesday, January 15th, 2025, Primary 1 students have learnt about “Addition within 20” for the first Maths lesson of the 2nd semester. This meeting served as a continuation of the material about numbers.
During the lesson, students got to know about addition material and how to add numbers easily with numbers line. They also played the game “Roll the Animals Dice” to practice their understanding of addition. Through this activity, the students learnt how to add by counting the total number of animals on the two dice that were rolled together.
The students were able to solve addition problems using the understanding they have gained earlier, using the number line as a tool. At the end of the lesson, they shared about their favorite part of the session. Many of them liked the “Roll the Animal Dice” game.
Through this series of activities, Primary 1 students have learnt how to solve addition problems in a fun and easy way. They were able to explore, express and understand addition through creative and interactive activity.
Learning addition in Primary 1 has lasting impacts on students’ practical life by fostering critical skills such as problem-solving, logical thinking, and confidence. It aids in everyday tasks like self and time management, even budgeting and measurement. Ultimately, mastering addition provides a strong foundation for future learning and real-world applications.
