Primary 1 – Learning Project: Explore Meaningful Celebrations through Creative Learning Activities
June 5th, 2025 – At the heart of meaningful education lies the ability to connect classroom learning with real-life experiences, LEAPRO is a series of learning activities that can be done by Primary 1 students to understand the learning process. P1 students need to understand that following processes is the important things in creating best product. This week, Primary 1 students engaged in a series of reflective and interactive learning program as their learning celebration at the end of academic year. Students began the session by watching a slideshow and video montage of memorable moments from their school year, such as their first day of school, project performances, assembly, Independence day, and many more celebrations. Through this exposure, they recalled past experiences and identified elements of celebrations like decorations, dresscode, souvenirs and invitations.
Next, students discussed guiding questions in pairs, such as “What is your best celebration moment with your family?” and “What do you prepare for a celebration?” They engaged in sorting activities using 20 picture cards to categorize items into decorations, invitations, souvenirs, and dress codes. These activities strengthened their understanding of the components and significance of celebration preparations. Teachers encouraged deeper reflection by asking questions like, “Why do you think celebration matters for bonding?” and “What do we need to prepare to have a successful celebration?” Students analyzed the emotional and social value of celebrations, connecting their personal experiences with broader ideas of gratitude, joy, and community.
The culmination of the session required students to apply their learning creatively by planning their own End-of-Year Celebration. They filled out reflection worksheets and a “Celebration Planner Card” at home with family support. Students then shared their ideas through drawings and sentences about what makes a celebration meaningful, integrating what they learned over multiple days into a comprehensive understanding and creative expression.
Through this approach, the learning experience went beyond simple classroom activities. It fostered collaborative learning and real-world connections—equipping students with both academic skills and life values. The lesson clearly demonstrated how preparation, creativity, and reflection can turn a classroom into a space of shared joy and meaningful memories.
