Primary 1 – Global Perspective: Let’s do the simple magic with electricity!
Primary 1 students have started the Global Perspective in this term with excitement. They are now exploring around the theme of “Electricity”. They are learning about the uses, safety and impact of electricity in daily life. They started by doing some observations through video and having experiment with their family members.
The beginning of theme, students pretended to be scientist. They needed to find something by doing observation and experiment. They did observation by watching videos to know the differences and how those electricity works. Then, they tried to prove that electricity exists around them.
Primary 1 students did the simple experiments to know and prove the static electricity around us. They gathered in group so that they could do sharing and discussion in this experiment. Each group has some materials to try static electricity, such as balloon, com, ruler, paper and tissue. They tried one by one of materials to know static electricity works. They rubbed the balloon, comb and ruler on their hair or clothes. Then, they tried to attract the small pieces of paper or tissue with materials rubbed. They were excited to see the paper jumped and attracted to the materials rubbed.
Through this activity, students were stimulated to spark curiosity in learning about electricity. The students were also given chance to have direct practice that helps build personalized experience and makes sense of knowledge into understanding. The experiment encourages the students to be more curious, resilience and enthusiastic for learning something new. The engaging learning experience can build students’ strong understanding.
