Prep Class – Fine Motor: A Spoonful of Macaroni

The students in the preparation class were recently conducted in a hands-on spooning activity, using macaroni as part of their post-story session. After listening to tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the children engaged in a themed sensory experience where they transferred macaroni from trays to bowls using plastic spoons. The classroom was filled with focus.

This activity was not only fun but also intentionally designed to strengthen the children’s fine motor skills. By practicing the simple spooning skill, they developed hand-eye coordination, grip control, and concentration. These skills are beneficial for everyday tasks such as feeding themselves, writing, and manipulating small objects.

Spooning activities played an essential role in preparing the students for refining their motor control and focus, building the confidence and independency. Engaging in sensory tasks also stimulates cognitive development and nurtures problem-solving skills — all crucial for a strong start in early education. ***
