
Nursery: Vegetables and beyond!
Learning about vegetables, students in nursery level were supported to develop their linguistic by mentioning the vegetables in form of simple couplets. They were also taken to explore their scientific approach skill by feeling and comparing the texture of various textures.
Through shopping for vegetables roleplay, students learned to make their own shopping list by making couplets of colour and vegetable vocabulary such as green broccoli, green turnip, purple cabbage, etc. The students then challenged to read the couplet they made and shop for the vegetables in their list.
Rolling up the knowledge they acquire about the colour of the vegetables, in science, the students were taken to exploring their senses and enriching their knowledge through tactile activity of differing smooth and rough textures of different kind of vegetables such as broccoli, turnip, carrot, bitter gourd, etc.
Through the challenges, the students were expanding their knowledge and curiosity through the active involvement showed all through the sets of activity. Students were also guided to be able to enhance their knowledge and link it to their real life situation.
