Nursery – Practical Life: Sock Dressing & Sensory Walking

During the Practical Life lesson, the students were asked to take off their socks and walk barefoot to explore different textures. They started by walking on a smooth floor, then moved to synthetic grass, stones, and small pebbles. As they walked, they felt the different sensations under their feet: the smooth surface of the floor, the rough texture of the grass, the hardness of the stones, and the sharpness of the pebbles. After experiencing these textures, the students were guided to put their socks back on by themselves. They carefully stretched and adjusted the socks, ensuring they were wearing them correctly.

This activity not only helped students practice self-care skills but also enhanced their sensory awareness, balance, and concentration. It encouraged independence as they completed the task without assistance and improved their fine motor skills through the action of removing and putting on their socks.
