Nursery – Learning Project: Tasty Birthday Cake
In this learning project, “Tasty Birthday Cake,” students explored various birthday celebrations from around the world. They were enthusiastic in discussing the different ways children celebrate birthdays in different countries and happily shared their own birthday experiences with their friends. Through these meaningful discussions, students learned to appreciate and respect cultural differences and understand that every celebration is unique and special.
After learning about birthday traditions, students planned and created their own birthday cakes by choosing the shapes, colours, and the number of candles they wanted to include. They learned to make simple plans before starting their work and practiced thinking step by step during the process. Students carefully cut, coloured, pasted, and arranged the shapes into a birthday cake before decorating it creatively with candles and other details based on their own ideas.
This activity provided many meaningful learning experiences for the students. It helped develop their creativity, fine motor skills, communication, and confidence. In addition, students learned the importance of planning, following sequences, and organizing their ideas in a logical way. Through this project, students also understood the value of sharing happiness, showing care for others, and respecting differences in celebrations and traditions around the world.
