Nursery – Learning Project: A Shady Tree
On the first day of their learning project, Nursery students began their exploration of trees through direct observation of the school environment. They identified the parts of trees such as trunks, branches, leaves, and flowers, and compared trees based on size, leaf shape, leaf color, and the colors of flowers. This hands-on activity allowed students to observe, recognize, and describe the unique characteristics of trees in their surroundings.
Beyond observation, students expanded their understanding by learning about the importance of trees, how to care for them, and the various everyday items that are made from trees. These discussions helped students connect their observations to real-world applications, fostering a deeper appreciation for trees and their role in the environment.
After gathering knowledge and data, students began to express their ideas for the tree artwork they will create as the culminating project of the learning theme. They were encouraged to be brave and confident in making choices about their designs, using what they had learned to inspire their creative process.
This project not only nurtures creativity but also reinforces their understanding of trees through observation, reflection, and expression. The process has set a strong foundation, and we look forward to seeing their unique tree artwork take shape in the next stage of the project! ***
