Nursery – Fine motor: Transferring dry and liquid material
As part of the “The World Around Us” theme, Nursery students engaged in a hands-on exploration with pebbles and water—two elements commonly found in our environment. In this activity, students practiced spooning pebbles and pouring water from jugs into bottles.
Both pebbles and water offer rich opportunities to stimulate fine motor skills. Through the spooning activity, students strengthen their finger muscles, which are essential for writing and self-care tasks. Meanwhile, pouring water from a jug supports hand-eye coordination and introduces an early concept of prediction and control—as they learn to judge when to stop pouring to avoid spills.
These practical life exercises leave a lasting impact on children’s development. They help nurture independence in daily routines, such as feeding themselves or pouring their own drinks. Engaging with their environment in this meaningful way not only supports physical development but also builds confidence and self-reliance. ***
