Nursery – Fine Motor Activity: “Sponge and Shake Maracas”

Nursery learners dove into hands-on sensory fun with an exciting “Sponge and Shake Maracas” activity!

Starting with water-filled trays, young explorers squeezed sponges to absorb and transfer water, observing how the sponges transformed from dry to soft and wet. Next, students collected colorful pebbles—exploring their cool, hard textures—and dropped them into bottles to build their very own maracas. The fun reached a high note as children shook their instruments fast and slow, listening closely to the changing rhythms and volumes!

By combining water play with music making, Nursery strengthened hand-eye coordination, grip control, sensory exploration, and early auditory awareness!
