Nursery – Entry Point: Once Upon a Time
To begin the new theme “Once Upon a Time”, the students in nursery level had a special guest, Granny Story. Looking for her lost magical story book, Granny was so happy to found her story book in the class taken care by the students. As a present, Granny Story shared a story entitled The Enormous Turnip. Using small figures and real vegetables, Granny shared the story and captured student’s curiosity. As an extra gift, Granny also lend the students plenty of story books to be explored together.
Not only that the students enjoyed the story, they learned to dig out curiosity and showing respect by paying attention while Granny shared the story. Furthermore, they also learned the value that cooperation can lead to successfulness. From the story, students were also taken to review their knowledge from the previous theme about plant growth and at the same time added up their knowledge layer.
In enjoying the story books from Granny Story, students also developed their interpersonal skill by sharing or taking turn in reading the story books. As an addition, to embrace their curiosity and add up their knowledge, students were then taken to recognize the vocabularies both through flashcards and real vegetables.
Showing their enthusiasm
