Nursery – Entry Point: Minibeast Around Us
Nursery students explored the world of tiny creatures during the entry point activity of their new theme, “Minibeast Around Us.” Teachers provided several minibeasts in jars, such as crickets, ants, caterpillars, snails, and worms. Students were invited to observe how the minibeasts moved and looked closely at their behaviors.
At first, many students felt a little afraid and chose to observe from a distance. However, as the teachers encouraged them and explained that the minibeasts were safe, the students gradually became more confident. They started to move closer, point at the minibeasts, and share what they noticed. Some students even became brave enough to gently touch them with the teacher’s guidance.
Through this activity, students learned new vocabulary about minibeasts and their movements. More importantly, the activity encouraged students to observe carefully and express their ideas. It also helped them build confidence as they overcame their initial fear and tried a new experience.
Exploration activities like this are important for young learners because they support curiosity, observation skills, and early scientific thinking. By interacting directly with living creatures, students also begin to develop empathy and respect for nature. These meaningful experiences help build a strong foundation for their learning both now and in the future.
