Nursery – English: Recognising New Vocabularies
Today, our Nursery students explored new vocabulary related to fruits such as banana, mango, orange, and pineapple. The lesson began with fruit realia, where the children had the chance to see and talk about different fruits firsthand — their excitement was contagious!
To make the learning more meaningful, it was connected to the children’s real-life experiences by recalling our Healthy Eating Day on Wednesday, when many of them brought fruits to school. This reinforced the importance of choosing nutritious foods to grow stronger and healthier.
During the hands-on activities, the children role-played shopping for fruits using a trolley, followed by classifying fruit pictures according to their names. These playful experiences supported more than just vocabulary development — they also enhanced fine motor skills such as hand–eye coordination, improved the ability to follow instructions, strengthened focus, and encouraged responsibility when tidying up after play.
Through this exciting and meaningful experience, our students not only expanded their vocabulary and understanding of healthy eating, but also practised essential life skills such as cooperation, independence, and responsibility. It was truly a day filled with fun, learning, and growth! ***
