Nursery – BMC Challenge Card: Modelling
The BMC activity series continues to progress meaningfully, beginning with the students searching for and understanding data by teachers guidance, and leading up to this week’s milestone where our Nursery students started planning what they could contribute to support friends in orphanages and grandmothers in nursing homes. Using the information they gathered from their teacher’s storytelling, the students enthusiastically engaged in a role-play shopping experience at a mini shopping center, complete with shopping lists they created themselves, detailing the items and quantities needed.
This joyful and purposeful activity not only nurtured empathy and heightened their awareness of the needs of others, but also strengthened their cognitive development through the Realistic Maths Education approach. By working with real-world data, the students practiced interpreting information, identifying patterns, and applying mathematical concepts in a meaningful context—building their data literacy skills and making learning more relevant and connected across all subjects.
