Nursery – Arts: Pebbles Collage
Nursery students continued their exploration of pebbles, a natural material commonly found in our environment. Students not only observed the texture, size, and colours of pebbles but also discovered how pebbles can be used creatively in art.
As part of the activity, students were challenged to create a flower collage. They began by colouring the leaves and stem, then tearing green paper to represent grass. To complete their flower, students decorated the petals using colourful pebbles.
This engaging activity supported multiple areas of development. It encouraged imagination and creativity as students designed their own flower artwork. Moreover, it enhanced fine motor skills, especially through tearing paper and handling small pebbles. It also supported proper pencil grip as students coloured, and improved spatial awareness while arranging the grass and petals. Most importantly, students practised persistence and focus as they carefully pasted small pebbles to form neat and beautiful flower petals.
